Our first appointments typically consist of:
Some new patients are unsure what to expect for their first visit to a chiropractor, and may even feel nervous.
If you have ever visited other healthcare providers, then your Chiropractic visit will be a familiar experience as the setting and intake procedure will be similar.Â
Our initial consultation will require filling out a questionnaire regarding your current health and previous medical history, which is similar to other healthcare providers.Â
Typically, the chiropractor will clarify where you are experiencing discomfort and may check other health factors like pulse, breathing rate and blood pressure.
Your Chiropractor will begin with:
Further chiropractic tests may be necessary to assess the affected area, such as having you move in a specific manner, posture analysis, or assess motion of the affected body part.Â
We may also perform orthopedic examinations, which consist of moving the affected area to detect discomfort within the joints or soft tissues. A neurological examination is also common, which includes assessing the function of your strength, sensation and reflexes.Â
All of these components of the physical examination help build a clinical picture of you. If any further investigation needs to be performed, you will be referred for imaging (X-rays) or referred to your GP.
The treatment will be specific to your individual case but may include:
Generally, an initial appointment will take around 30 minutes, including a treatment. However, this depends on the severity of your presentation and may take up to 40 minutes.Â
Our regular follow up treatments run for 15-20 minutes. Dry Needling appointments will take 20-30 minutes
The ideal clothing is loose, comfortable clothing as you may be required to lay down on the padded table.
Avoiding belts or sharp items that could catch the table padding and clothing that restricts easy movement.
You want to be as comfortable as possible to perform exercises and move around with ease.Â
Our Chiropractors will take a methodical approach to your appointment to gather the necessary information and provide the best treatment for your individual case.
